Volunteering with Partners PDF Print E-mail

Community GardenOur own projects rely almost entirely on Volunteers for accomplishing their goals. If you are willing to dedicated some of your time and experience for the purpose of creating a better community or a better planet, our Partners need you. And, probably, you need them too.

Volunteer Roles

In Community Development, certain roles need to be filled for every project. In smaller projects, you might play several roles. Larger projects may have special skill requirements. In any case, the concept of Community Development isn't one that is done in isolation. It requires many individuals each playing a role in serving the community.

These are some of the roles that may be required in creating a sustainable group:

Outreach:

The goal of Outreach Volunteers is to seek out Communities of Interest that require assistance in building prosperity. Their goal is to establish rapport with members of the community to deeply understand their challenges, their strengths and their Vision and they begin the process of consulting with the Partners team including Researchers, Capacity Builders, Fundraisers, Economists and Mediators to begin solving the challenges faced by the communities. The ideal outreach worker is often found within the Community of Interest itself. A community of interest is, for example, a specific group which by virtue of its commonality shares the same challenge. A few examples are, the Widow's of Tapko village, First Nation women, high school youth or people of a specific neighborhood.

Research:

Prosperity shows up in the form of sustainable employment, entrepreneurial ventures, education, investments, cultural initiatives and the application of values and ethics in all efforts. Our researchers are individuals who scan globally to find the best methods and successes in prosperity building. They then work cooperatively with our Capacity Builders in creating programs that facilitate building a more prosperous community.

Project Experts:

Each Project is different and requires different types of expertise. We encourage everyone who has an area of specialty, (e.g. agriculture, mechanics, water development, or any other) to share their skills and knowledge with other Partners. You can be specific about your expertise in your Mission or Description and in the types of services you offer.

(Project) Facilitators:

Facilitators are individuals both inside the Communities of Interest and sometimes external to the Communities of Interest who work collectively with the communities to share knowledge, incorporate practices and build strategies. Facilitators are trained by other Facilitators for the task and collectively build their own capabilities. Partners for Prosperity provides the collective point for dialog and documented learning. Ideally Facilitators also come from the Community of Interest.

Note: In the case of certain designated projects Facilitators take on additional roles.

Mediation:

Mediators are individuals who are well connected and who volunteer their experience, their connections and their service to help resolve issues that arise for the Communities of Interest. Capacity Builders in the community will included Mediators.

Media:

  1. Article Writers
  2. Videographers
  3. Photographers

As we progress, we will increase our need for coverage of activities. As such we will need people with experience in areas related to many forms of media.

Art:

  1. Visual Artists
  2. Musicians
  3. Painters
  4. Carvers
  5. Others

Partners for Prosperity believes that the Arts play a crucial role in Community Development. Art can be used both in Fund raising events and in the development of capacity and skill within communities. Arts add to the beauty and uniqueness of the community. Each community developes it's own forms of Art and those arts can be shared as part of Community Development projects.

Technical:

  1. Web-developers
  2. Designers
  3. Social Network specialists

Technical Specialist are required to ensure the proper operations of our web-site, to ensure accessibility, integration of the latest capabilities in social networking and mobile computing, SEO, and others. We look for creative people who have an interest in generating prosperity globally for Communities of Interest.

Fund Raising:

  1. Social Networkers
  2. Event Planners
  3. Funding Consultants

While the goal of Partners is to use as much Donated and Volunteered effort as possible, there are always organizational and project needs requiring funding. Various kinds of fundraisers will be required to get corporate funding, government funding and funding from granting foundations.

Community Representative:

A Community of Interest is one which recognizes a desire to overcome social, cultural or economic challenges and is willing to dedicate it's time and effort in the process of building individual and collective capacity for greater unity with the larger community. Community Development requires Community Representatives who are willing to dedicate their time in working with Facilitators and Outreach workers.

Board of Directors:

  1. Directors
  2. Advisors

The Board of Directors reviews it's own membership on an annual basis and invites individuals of specific capacity to either participate as Board members or when an individual has a specific role in society such as Academic, Business, Government or NGO experience, they may be invited by the Board to act as an Advisor.

Course Writers:

As Partners for Prosperity learns from it's activities, the learning will be captured in the form of courses which will be made available to all it's Partners and Communities of Interest. Courses will also be made available to others, however, will be provided at no cost to those who have volunteered or who are part of the target Community of Interest.
