Dear Friends,
Our July News monthly newsletter includes the following:
Partners Gets Action Oriented
For those who have not yet clicked on the Join Us button we have some good news. We've improved the registration (Join Us) system.
Here's how:
- We have provided better instructions
- We have made it step by step so that its clearer
- We have made two types of profile (Individual, Organizational). This allows you to create a profile that's more specific to your needs.
If you haven't yet, now's the time to Join Us.
But there's more changes to help us work together... check it out
After You've Joined Us
After you've joined us, that's when life with Partners really begins!
Partners isn't just about a news letter (although we're happy you read it), and its not about going about your every day life the same as before. Partners is about diving in. At first, not much will change. But slowly and surely we will begin to learn together about what our communities need and then we will share ideas, concepts, projects, enthusiasm, encouragement and, in some cases, resources so that we can take those ideas into action with the support of other Partners.
There are many people in this world who need help and yet each has something to contribute. You have the power to be a catalyst of change, but we all need to know how. And that's the point of Partners. We want to build a community of individuals and organizations that want to learn, grow, have fun and serve together
(see Serving Together). Collectively we call ourselves Partners.
Our Youth Initiative, the Quw'utsun' Youth Guild
The Quw'utsun' Youth Guild is the first group in our youth initiative called "Creating Our World". It is a project by youth for youth.
We were very fortunate to hire an extremely bright young man, Nicholas Peter, who is from the Cowichan Tribes and his thought was to reach out to the First Nations youth in the area. He called his group the Quw'utsun' Youth Guild (Quw'utsun' is the traditional spelling for Cowichan). If you would like to here more about Nicholas's experiences to date and the project, please visit Quw'utsun Youth Guild and read about his Development Plan for the group.
We've added an option in our (Canada Helps) funding site so you can contribute directly to this initiative and help to raise money for salaries and for other aspects of this project as it goes forward.

Our collaboration with Royal Roads University: Tse Tsa Watle
We are extremely excited to have this opportunity to work with Royal Roads University, having their support on developing our group system and we are supporting them by participating in their work as well.
The aim of the group is to work together as a community through discussions between our First Nations friends and relations and the academic community (although others may wish to participate).
Dr. Virginia McKendry, head of the BA program for Communications, and Greg Sam are heading up the initiative which is based on a Participatory research effort and which is starting as 6 initiate sessions at Royal Roads.
The on-line group will be used as a follow-up for future group discussions. For those who have already created a profile, you can make a request to join the group.
New Partners and Friends
Over the past month we've had an increase in our newsletter sign-up of more than 10%. We've also had an increase of 15% in individual Partners and 5% in new Organizational Partners. To accomplish our goal, we still have a long way to go. Please don't forget to Invite others to create a profile.
One of the new Partners also described their organizational needs. To see what their needs are, you move to the menu option "Find Partners", then click on "Partner Needs". Here's what you will see. A new Parter Organization "Basic Human Needs" a school in India will be the first on the list because they were the last organization on the system.
Two other organizations, "Association for Youth Literacy and Trades Education" from Rwanda and "Social Transformation and Educational Prosperity – STEP" from Pakistan also joined our network of Partner organizations. We are happy to have them on-board. Please check out their web-sites by clicking on their names.
Last but never least,
Please continue your generous support of our good work so that we can help others continue their good work.
On the Canada Helps site, you can create regular donations or you can do a one time donation and you can also tell us which project you want to fund with your donation. Click here to donate... . If you would like to donate but prefer not to do it on-line, click here for more information.
I wish I could meet all of our subscribers. It's not possible because they're everywhere and there are many of you. But if you happen to be in my area (Duncan, BC), please look me up.
Until next month, Garth Schmalenberg
Partners for Prosperity
