Dear Friends,
Our Newsletter this month includes the following:
Partner Initiatives
This month, we have a special note from Onel Francios, a Partner from Haiti, sharing his thoughts about the Earthquake 2 years ago that devastated his country and his family. (Read More...)
We are also working on an number of active initiatives, with a number of new Partners in Kenya, Even-P is working on a project to empower Somalian's who live in Kenya on the border of Somalia. They are looking for assistance to develop a community project. Any Partners who know of other organizations that may be of assistance can contact Even-P through the Partners web-site.
Karen Gould is actively working on her project in Jamaica. In consulting with the Community Representative in Barton Hill, she learned that there are 100 farmers but that they are short of seed and fertilizer and the people are very poor and hungry. So we are looking for sponsorship for purchase of seeds and agricultural expertise. Have a look at Karen's Barton Hill, Jamaica Project.
There are many other Partner initiatives we do not know about and some we are just learning about which will be included in later news letters. Please feel free to share. You will find some other projects at the following link...
Development Effectiveness (What does it Mean?)
In this article, we provide some thoughts on what will make our world develop more effectively. We provide links to a speech on how Canada provides Aid and ask for your input and experience related to Development Effectiveness. (Read More...)
In addition, please review our goals related to using the Istanbul Principles and Development Effectiveness as part of our Framework (Read more...)
Free Educational Resources
In our effort to provide more value, we have added some additional Resources to the Partners web-site. In this menu option you will find links to Free Educational Resources. If you know of other free educational resources that might be of value to the Partners community, please let us know so that we can add these links.
You'll find them at Serving Together>Resources>Free Educational Resources
Partners 2011 Year in Review and Planning for 2012
The whole point of Partners for Prosperity is to facilitate learning, growing, and serving together, as we collectively build our capacities in Community Development. We encourage you to Read our Review of 2011...
Share Your Stories
We are always looking to hear from you in your work. Please send your stories so we can share them with other Partners. Alternatively, when you login and go to your profile, you will now find a tab called Blog. You can post any of your updates here.
New Partners
Disclaimer: We are an open group and do a very limited initial verification of new Partner Profiles. Most people who are attracted to this organization have positive intentions to serve their community but we encourage you to be diligent about your choices of who to support.
If you want to sponsor projects which are run directly by Partners for Prosperity, we keep a running list. Program Partners... or you can look in the Canada Donates list.
Donate
And last but never least, please help us by supporting our good work and the work of our Partners so that we can help each other continue our collective work.
On the Canada Helps site, you can create regular donations or you can do a one time donation and you can also tell us which project you want to fund with your donation. Click here to donate...
As always, I wish I could meet all of our subscribers. However, we all know thats not practical because we're everywhere and there will be many Partners in the future. But hopefully, you will have an opportunity to work with other Partners this year and perhaps invite others in your own community to participate.
Best wishes for 2012, Garth Schmalenberg
