The Anisa Foundation's mission is to promote education throughout northwestern Mexico: promote gender equality; establish S.A.T. (Sistema de Aprendizaje Tutorial) groups in rural, northwestern Mexico and to promote discussion within Mexican society about a different concept of leadership -- one based on principles such as service, education and other human values. Several S.A.T. tutors trained in the Cucap? indigenous areas south of the city of Mexicali, a year-long project completed which promoted gender equality in junior high and high schools in Mexicali and several conferences in Mexicali universities on the theme of Moral Leadership as well as the Equality of Women and Men.

A steady supply of used laptops, one of our volunteers could sell them to raise funds. We need money to support the two S.A.T. (rural junior high and high school tutorial) programs -- one south of Mexicali and the other west, towards Tijuana, Mexico. Both programs are in indigenous areas and we need the funds to support the tutors so they don't go off and find work in the nearby cities. We need two types of volunteers, both of them need to speak, read and write Spanish very well: 1. Rural Program Coodinator -- To coordinate the groups which have S.A.T. tutors working; promote the program in the rural areas outside of Mexicali; and to organize a support group for the program with students from the several universities in Mexicali. 2. Rural S.A.T. Tutor -- To tutor one or more of the S.A.T. groups which have been started. Both positions require a committment of at least three months. We can provide housing and the volunteer should be able to pay for their own transportation and food. We are also affiliated with Border Health Initiative which has, up to now, provided us with workshops on different organizational needs.
