Our Inspiration

"It is no longer possible to maintain the belief that the approach to social and economic development to which the materialistic conception of life has given rise, is capable of meeting humanity"s needs... Unless the development of society finds a purpose beyond the mere amelioration of material conditions, it will fail of attaining even these goals. That purpose must be sought in spiritual dimensions of life." -The Prosperity of Humankind, Baha"i International Community

Global Connections

A partnership project connecting a community of people in Canada with female farmers in Takpo Village, Northern Ghana.

Cowichan Valley, Bowen Island and Vancouver, Canada... ... to Takpo Village, in Nadowli District NW Ghana.

Tapko Women

Each Canadian partners with one widow in the village and supports her to develop sustained economic income to support herself and her family. This year's effort has focused on planting moringa seedlings. An ideal crop for the area, the Moringa grows well in poor soil and needs very little water. The edible leaves of the Moringa contain more protein than either beef or soy, and its abundant gifts don’t stop there. It can be a source ingredient for bio fuel and livestock feed, and it even has the ability to purify water. They would then save the seeds from the plants this year and grow each over a hundred trees next year. By next year we hope they could have another crop they could sell at the regional markets as well as food to supplement their diet. more

Beginnings - with help from the BADI Foundation

In both October of 2005 and in July 2006, a number of Cowichan Valley community individuals and organizations have collectively arranged sessions to deliver the training in community development and empowerment that the Badi Foundation has been successfully offering in China for the last ten years. This opportunity has been made possible by the collective efforts of a number of local groups working together and through the visits to our Valley by Alex Christian, a Canadian, who has been serving in China for over fifteen years. more

The Lights are ON at the Joan Anderson Memorial Dispensary!!!

image It is like a miracle to have electric lights in the dispensary for the first time two days ago, so they can clearly see while treating patients during the hours of darkness.
The whole mountain is talking with excitement about this new development that really does bring improvements to the peoples lives. more
