Our Inspiration |
"It is no longer possible to maintain the belief that the approach to social and economic development to which the materialistic conception of life has given rise, is capable of meeting humanity"s needs... Unless the development of society finds a purpose beyond the mere amelioration of material conditions, it will fail of attaining even these goals. That purpose must be sought in spiritual dimensions of life." -The Prosperity of Humankind, Baha"i International Community

Christmas Fundraiser for Tapko Update |
We are proud to say that on this past Easter weekend Gifty's husband, Wayne Dunn, made the trip to Tapko to deliver the school supplies that we held a fundraiser for over Christmas.
Wayne spends time in Ghana for business reasons and took time out of his busy schedule to make the 700 kilometer trip to Tapko to present the supplies himself.

Haiti Update |
Funds raised at "Feel the Love for Haiti" fundraiser in Duncan Supported this Initative...
Pichon Haiti students & families after the earthquake in January....
Recent Update
Haiti is on everyone's mind, in their hearts and prayers these last days-it hardly seems possible that barely two weeks have gone by since the devastating earthquake shook this small nation, destroying lives, homes, roads, and damaging even more.
Given that Partners has been working for quite some time in Haiti, we thought we'd like to share with you what we've been doing, what we are doing right now ("on the ground," so to speak, even though that ground has been shaken so severely) and what we hope to do in the future.

Tunes for Takpo: Jazz Unites Vancouver Island and Ghana |
Jazz/Blues musicians Paul Mowbray and Tracy Mills are putting their music where their hearts are--in an effort to raise awareness (and funds) for a Women's Grassroots economic initiative in Ghana.
Victoria performers and songwriters Paul Mowbray (guitar) and Tracy Mills (violin) deliver compelling original acoustic music. Drawing from lyric-based folk, timeless blues, Pac-Rim funk, and classical sensibilities - their music moves and changes.
Loving the stage, Mowbray and Mills perform Friday with their Circle of Friends Band (Kelby MacNayr, drums and Stephen Ogden, bass). Together since 2006 - they’ve played regularly in the Victoria area, taught hundreds of lessons, and lead dozens of workshops.

Global Connections |
A partnership project connecting a community of people in Canada with female farmers in Takpo Village, Northern Ghana.
Cowichan Valley, Bowen Island and Vancouver, Canada...
... to Takpo Village, in Nadowli District NW Ghana.
Each Canadian partners with one widow in the village and supports her to develop sustained economic income to support herself and her family.
This year's effort has focused on planting moringa seedlings. An ideal crop for the area, the Moringa grows well in poor soil and needs very little water. The edible leaves of the Moringa contain more protein than either beef or soy, and its abundant gifts don’t stop there.
It can be a source ingredient for bio fuel and livestock feed, and it even has the ability to purify water. They would then save the seeds from the plants this year and grow each over a hundred trees next year. By next year we hope they could have another crop they could sell at the regional markets as well as food to supplement their diet.
